Nancy Denney-Phelps

She is a journalist writing about European animation and festivals as well as a producer of music for animation. Along with her composer/musician husband Nik Phelps, she co-founded the Sprocket Ensemble dedicated to presenting live performances of original music with screenings of contemporary animation from around the world.
Nancy’s writings have appeared in such publications as CARTOON and ANIMATOON as well as on her regular blog for AWN (Animation World Network). She is also a regular correspondent for ASIFA/San Francisco and a member of the ASIFA International Board of Directors as well as an Ambassador At Large for the Emile Awards.
Nancy has served on numerous International Animation Festival juries and taught time management for animators at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, School of Art and Design. She is the pitching coach at ANIMARKT in Lodz, Poland as well as a member of their Brain Trust Advisory Board. She also awards the annual Nancy Award at the Kaboom Animation Festival in Amsterdam and is a member of the ANIMASYROS Festival Team.
Her strong interest in the history of animation has led her to present programs on the history of animation traced through music at many animation festivals and conferences worldwide. She also works as advisor to several animation festivals and in 2019 was the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the ANIMAKOM Animation Festival in Bilbao, Spain. In 2022 Nancy received the Giannalberto Bendazzi Award from the Paris International Animation Film Festival.
In 2024 Nancy published her first book On The Animation Trail, 20 Years of Animation Festival History.

Founder of Se-ma-for Film Production company, a follower of a liquidated state-owned Film Studio Se-ma-for.
Graduate of economics at the University of Lodz and Studies in Film and Television Production Management in the Polish National Film School in Lodz. Since 1976 until 1992 production manager of feature films in Polish Film Studios “Zespoly Filmowe”.
Since 1993 connected with Polish animation, first as the Head of Production Department in Film Studio Se-ma-for then, since December 1999 to February 2015, as the President of Se-ma-for Film Production company.
Since 2008 to 2015 also the Head of Se-ma-for Film Foundation. Initiator of Se-Ma-For Film Festival in Lodz (international festival of puppet animation and other three-dimensional stop-motion animation techniques).
Lead of the Film Working Group of the Program Committee of the Polish Tourfilm Academy.
Member of the World Film Festival Committee – CINETOUR.
Animated films which he produced won many Polish and international prizes at film festivals. The most important is the Oscar (2008) for the short puppet animation film “Peter and the Wolf” (dir. By Suzie Templeton).
Producer of such puppet animation films like “Maska” dir. Quay Brothers, “Ichthys” and “Danny Boy” dir. Marek Skrobecki , 3D animation – “The lost Town of Switez” – dir. Kamil Polak and puppet series for children “Flapper And Friends”.
Nik Phelps

Born in Texas, Belgium-based composer Nik Phelps has played with diverse musical artists, from Eric Johnson and Lou Rawls, Frank Sinatra and They Might Be Giants, to Frank Zappa Tony Bennett and Mary Martin. For over thirty years, he has created scores for films in a style that can best be described as rhythmic and witty, heartfelt but with an ironic sense of humor. He recorded with Tom Waits, playing on three films and five CDs. He has been scoring film since 1988, starting with the seminal San Francisco soundtrack group The Club Foot Orchestra, and has been working in the animation field since 1995, scoring for the animated CBS TV series The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat. In 1996 he founded the live film music project The Sprocket Ensemble, collaborating with animators such as Nina Paley, Bill Plympton, Lei Lei and Ivan Maximov. He also gives workshops on various topics, including sound for film, pitching performance techniques, and about unleashing the creative process.
Rao Heidmets

Rao Heidmets was born on September 15, 1956 in Pärnu Estonia. He was graduated from Tallinn University of Technology in 1981, major in electrical engineering. He was member of the underground filmmakers group Päratrust during his study and due to that his career continued at the Tallinnfilm studio with animation films. During the career he has been working with animation films in his own studio but also as a producer and director of many movies, commercials and TV productions, some of them awarded with highest prizes in different festivals worldwide. He has been working with students in Estonia and other countries with workshops.
